The Surge is a heavy duty Leatherman- suited for the building site, not for backpacking. Its increase in size means it can get the toughest jobs done. The added features over the Core are the fact that the blades are accesible without opening the tool up, and it comes with a bit driver, so can be easily extended using the LT27 bit kit.
